The SAIT Investment Management Trust (SIMT) is a dynamic program housed within the SAIT School of Business, dedicated to providing hands-on experience in investment management to SAIT students. SIMT operates under a comprehensive Governance Framework, ensuring transparency, responsibility, and a commitment to excellence.
Fund Managers, ideally between four to eight individuals, oversee the day-to-day management of the Trust's investments. They are responsible for decision-making regarding SIMT funds.
Supporting the Fund Managers are the Fund Analysts, a group responsible for ongoing research and monitoring of the Fund. This role provides students with a platform to develop essential skills in investment analysis.
The steering team, comprised of finance professionals, guides SIMT decisions, ensuring transparency and sustainability. Regular meetings and donor recognition underscore their commitment to excellence.
Fund Managers and analysts are appointed by the Steering Committee based on their suitability and competence.
Fund Analysts are assigned to Fund Managers for mentorship, ensuring a collaborative learning environment.
The Mentorship Advisory Group (MAG) consists of independent professional advisors who provide valuable insights and advice.
Fund Managers conduct regular meetings to discuss progress reports, investment research, and formal pitches. These meetings aim to foster collaboration and informed decision-making.
Quarterly, semi-annual, and annual reports are submitted to the Steering Committee, providing an overview of the Fund's performance, decisions, and compliance.
The SIMT Governance Framework is reviewed annually by the Steering Committee to ensure its relevance and effectiveness.
